Hi folks, Just received info about this comp and would like to get a team together to play in it. Apparently there be teams from Nairn, Inverness, Wick, Thurso, Dingwall, Orkney, Shetland, Stornoway etc playing in it. I would like to think that a strong team (or teams) from Elgin/Moray would have a great chance of winning this. The comp is a 9 person event, costs about £11 per head and will be played to BB rules. I will list interested players names below. Give me a buzz on 07970680843, email uu1am@yahoo.co.uk or post on here if you fancy it. From what I hear this is a cracking weekend of team pool that DOES NOT involve caravans! Unless you want to of course or are from Dingwall lol! THAT IS THE FIRST TEAM CONFIRMED BELOW. IF ANYONE ELSE WANTS TO PUT IN ANOTHER TEAM THEN JUST LET ME KNOW.Cheers, Adam MORAY SELECT 1. Adam Macleod 2. Mark Bell 3. Neil Owen 4. Raymond Duguid 5. Kye Taylor 6. Alan Bonnyman 7. Barry Graham 8. James McKenzie 9. Johnny Ettles

Good start to the tourney for our boys with a 14 - 4 win vs Highland Select and 14 - 6 win vs Thurso A. Great character from the lads. Hopefully we can take that forward tomorrow!

Unbelievable day of pool ended in glorious defeat for Moray in the final of this event against an Inverness A team that boasted the BB rules world champion in their ranks. Each and every player for our team stepped up and helped to create THE BEST team spirit in a side I have ever experienced in an event like this.
Our second day started off a bit awkwardly as we somehow contrived to lose to Dingwall 14 - 12 having looked in control in both frames at 12 each. In our final group game vs Inverness A we knew that we only needed to get 3 frames to qualify and after going 4 - 1 up we took the foot off the gas and ended up losing that one 14 - 8. That put us into the semi against defending champs Shetland who had a side that consisted of some excellent players and absolute gentlemen.
That semi final will live with me forever. After losing the first set 8 - 1, our boys showed the mettle that I always knew was there to close the gap to 11 - 7 after set 2. From then on it was dreamtime. Every frame was either ground or dished by the moray lads and it was left to our Orkney lad (irony?) Baz Graham in the deciding frame at 13 each to drive the dagger into Shetland hearts. In front of the whole hotel he duly delivered and our boys just erupted on to him, the table, the walls and everywhere else. What a feeling!!
The final was a bit of an anti climax after that and we went down fighting to Inverness A 14 - 6. However, I thoroughly enjoyed that comp and we will definitely be back next year. A message has been sent by our lads - we will be back to win next year. Believe it!

Nope but we stayed right across the road from each other. I played in the same team as his older brother Daniel.....the all conquering Brig Hotel team of the late 80,s that kept the Abbey Inn in second place .....

Yep James still going strong in Forres, more of a snooker player than pool these days. But he did a very good impression of a pool player over the weekend!

Nice article on the back page of the Northern Scot this week. Loving the headline 'Orcadian sends Shetlanders potty'!!
