Good question Adam. The H&I lads are like rabid dogs on a leash waiting for this! Nah, there just rabid dogs in general... On a serious note, keeping with the bank holiday theme, i have a proposal. Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th August. Offer it to bowl (as originally scheduled) then elsewhere if need be. This is 7 weeks away, no excuses whatsoever for teams not being available by then. If no, i'll lose all hope this will actually materialise.

Just found out that our team captain is away working at the Olympics for 7 weeks from the end of July. Its unlikely that our team will be able to play before the season starts. Will this make a difference to whether it gets played or not?

Bumpedy bump bump......
Can anyone shed any light on this? Could everyone assemble a team for sunday the 26th?
Hopes are fading by the day this will actually be played. Shame, as its a cracking idea / concept.....

I think this could be one of those situations where someone has to take the bull by the horns Andrew Most of the people concerned will be at the tour on Saturday, which is at your suggested venue ....no time like the present ! lol

Not sure of winners of this comp but wanted to distance myself from rumours that I gave Keith permission to field a team of ringers.
The entry invite clearly stated that it was for players who had played for the wining teams of each league that season.
In the first post of this thread I wrote: "All I'll ask is that teams stick to the spirit of sport and don't field ringers! This is the only competition we have for proper pub teams so teams might as well enjoy it and win fairly!"
Not only were the Keith runners-up invited after the winners declined to take part but I'm led to believe that a Keith select showed up and claimed I had given them the green light for this.
Not happy and unfortunately it has detracted from the whole point of the competition (unless the Harbour won in which case it's a victory for good sportsmanship).
Brad.

Before this topic gets out of hand I'd just like to say I for one enjoyed a great day out playing pool at the Bowl 2000 yesterday. As only two teams that had won their respective leagues turned up on the day I'm presuming the original competition was unviable. The winners from the Keith League (Fife) were never entering this competition and the Ploo A runners up were invited, were we not? I have no idea why our original team from last season couldn't make yesterdays event as I never assembled the team. I understand Ben took hold of the reins to make this day possible and gave him the Ploo A team captains mobile number. Our team yesterday consisted of Billy Mac, Angie and myself from the Ploo A, Bondies & Boo from the Comm A and Ian Wilson from the Royal Oak in Dufftown, who came 2nd, 3rd & 4th respectively in the Keith & District Pool League. All good players but hardly what I'd call ringers. I understand the general feeling that any team that did not win their respective league cannot therefore challange for the Champions League Trophy and given the lack of entries for this event it would have otherwise been cancelled. From my perspective I was grateful for a days pool playing good players from the moray area and enjoyed the event in spirit it was played. Lets not create ill feelings about the day because if the original Ploo A team from last year had turned up and won then I'm sure the general feeling would've been the same. The lesson learned here is that only League Winners are eligible to play and perhaps we should not have been invited as Ben mentioned right at the start of this post, which upon reflection I'm sure we all agree. As the Harbour Inn & Buckie Ladies were the only real Champions competing at the event we can safely assume that the trophies would have gone home to Burghead. Not that it is my place or decision to make but I'd be happy to see the Harbour Inn engraved on the trophy as 2011 Champions in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Thanks for a great days pool to everyone who turned up and made the day possible

well said trendy, i myself also enjoyed a good days pool yesterday. a make shift team from keith wouldnt have been made up if someone didnt say it was allowed so someone has gave billy the green light. and to be honest without any disrespect 2 teams turning up would have been pretty pointless. at least with 3 teams a wee round robin was played and all teams got 2 games. like trendy said harbour inn boys probably deserve to win the champions league as they beat the buckie ladies. end of the day its another day where our areas pool players can compete at a good standard and feel more comfortable playing under a bit of pressure which all helps at bigger events. thanks for the invite to play. i hope the interleague warm up comp that was played last year can get organised as this was a cracking day last year.

Chris, Trendy, the runners up of the Keith League were invited after the Fife declined their place. It was made quite clear that the Ploo were only allowed to play players who have played for them in the league and despite what Billy might be telling people, I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SAY TO ANYONE TO BRING A KEITH SELECT.
If you'd turned up withyour proper team which could have included legit players like Woody, Tony McCallion and Shakey, no one would have minded one bit.
