Dear all Elgin & District Pool League players,
An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Elgin & District Pool League will take place in the upstairs bar at Flanagans on Friday 2nd November 2012 at 6:30PM.
The purpose of the meeting is to further discuss and reach a decision on the deferred AGM proposal to accept an invitation from the Scottish Pool Association (SPA) to affiliate for one calendar year (2013) without changing the league rules.
The ramifications of affiliating would mean that the Elgin & District Pool League would be barred from entering the SEPF Scottish Interleague next season and depending on the SEPF AGM next year, could see Elgin players barred from representing the SEPF at International level.
On the positive side; the amount and standard of Scottish domestic competitions offered by the SPA appear higher than what we have been used to and several local leagues including Inverness and Nairn are already affiliated to the SPA meaning we could have higher quality, higher entry, local competitions on our own doorstep.
Although the decision of this EGM will only immediately effect players who play at a higher level (Interleague, national singles tournaments, International levels), I stress that it is imperative that as many individuals from all levels of the League attend.
There will be one vote per player present so don't leave it to your team captain to cast your vote as this won't be happening!
The SPA will be represented at the EGM by their National Secretary: Mr. Davie Duncan and their promoter, Mr. Ross McInnes.
The SEPF will be represented by their President, Mr. Mike McDonald and Secretary, Mr. Derek Ahern.
Yours Sincerely,
Brad Wight
Secretary
EDPL.
