Following on from the huge success of the recent Arbroath open, it is Aberdeen's turn to host what will hopefully become a fantastic annual event.
When? - Saturday 15th Sept
Where? - Rileys, Bridge Place Aberdeen - 2min walk from Aberdeen rail and bus station.
Format? - 128 player straight knockout on 13 top quality tables.
Prize fund? - £1500. This will be guaranteed once 100 paid entries are received.
One day? - yes, a generously timed schedule see's the first match starting at 11.30am, with the final beginning at 8.30pm
Races? - best of 7 with races increasing if time permits.
How much? - £10
Can I enter on the day? No, in order to produce a fully timed schedule, entries will close on Wed 12th Sep
How do I enter? Adam MacLeod has very kindly agreed to collect Elgin entries
It wouldn't be a furrybeast comp, without a couple of quirks - and here they are!
Buy a Bye - Aimed at those who are perhaps working on the Saturday morning, or those who just don't like early starts, you can pay double entry fee to be guaranteed a bye into the last 64 with a start time of no earlier than 3pm
Dubble Bubble - A player can pay double entry fee and be draw twice into the draw, once in the top half, and once into the bottom. Obviously you would collect any winning due to you from either half, and if your luck is in, you might even face yourself in the final, where you would collect both 1st and 2nd prize!
If you're feeling particularly flush, why not combine the 2!
9Ball fliers will be held for those knocked out early, and it is hoped that a hosted cash poker table will be run throughout the day (subject the checking the legality of this)
Want to make a night of it? - twin rooms are available right now at the new Travelodge on Langstane Place (2mins walk from venue, and right in the heart of the city) for £29! - with pints at Rileys costing £2.40 and other drink promotions it might be a wise move!
Please feel free to ask any questions below, or add your name. Adam, I'm sure, will collate the names and mark them as paid.
Thanks, and look forward to seeing you in Sept.
