The 2012 SEPF Interleague will take place at Pettycur Bay on the weekend commencing 30th November.
As this is an Olympic year we have devised a new format that we think will be a huge success.
Based on 32 teams split into 8 groups of 4 a round robin will take place in each of the groups on the Friday 1pm - 10pm.
All above matches will be best of 8 frames played on one table (1 Frame per player).
After this initial group stage the teams will be split as follows.
Gold Event - Winners and Runners Up from Friday Group Stages - 16 Teams (4 groups of 4)
Bronze Event - 3rd & 4th Placed teams from Friday Group Stages - 16 Teams (4 groups of 4)
The above 2 events will be played on the Saturday 9am - 11pm.
Silver Event - 3rd & 4th Placed teams from Gold Event 8 Teams Quarter Finals onwards.
Gold Event - Winners and Runners Up from Gold groups 8 Teams Quarter Finals onwards.
Bronze Event - Winners and Runners Up from Bronze groups 8 Teams Quarter Finals onwards.
All above matches will be best of 16 frames played on two tables (2 frames per player).
The above Knockout stages will take place on the Sunday 9am - 6pm.
The above format ensures that all teams will play at least 6 matches on Friday/Saturday. Sunday will then see all Quarter Finals onwards to a finish in all of the 3 Events. Therefore on the last day 24 of the 32 entered teams will still be involved. The only eight teams that will not be involved will have finished 3rd or 4th in the initial groups and also 3rd or 4th in the Bronze Event.
Prize Fund £5000
Gold Event Silver Event Bronze Event Winners £1600 £800 £400 Runners Up £800 £400 £200 Semis £400
Rules of Entry
Entry Fee 1 instalment of £500 payable by 31-08-12
OR
Instalment 1 - £250 payable by 31-08-12 Instalment 2 - £250 payable by 30-09-12
There will be no exeptions on closing dates as deposits etc need to be made to The Holiday Park to secure the venue.
All teams entered must be from an SEPF affiliated league or from Individual members that have affiliated and played on their respective regional tours. Team must have a minimum of 8 players but may list 2 reserves if they so wish. 2 Two Caravans will be allocated to each team whether there are 8 or 10 players.
This format has been devised to give all teams as much table time as possible. It will ensure that all 32 teams are involved for the first 2 days and that 24 of the 32 teams will be involved at the Knockout stages on the last day.
Entry Forms will be emailed to all leagues and regions within the next week with a full set of Competition Rules.

Hi Folks,
Ben Royan has pointed out this morning that the initial deposit for interleague teams needs to be made by the 31st of this month.
As thats is only just over a fortnight away I am in agreement with Ben that we need to start getting organized.
So who wants to go this year and reperesent Elgin ? If interested players can let us know we can start a list.
Thanks
Interleague 2012

Other names have been mentioned but I will wait until they are confirmed.

hi raymond, boo here. just read your comment about the interleague, having spoken to bondies after last years event he says its a brilliant weekend. was just wondering how teams will be picked, do you need to be playing for a elgin team or what the script??? i have tried a couple times this year to try get enough keith lads together to form a keith team but not enough interest, however i feel 3or4 of us would be interested if we were eligable and picked obviously. you will get me here or my number is 07825661271 if you need to speak as am not on here daily. cheers

I'd like to be considered for one of the teams this year having heard many good tales of previous events. As the deadline is so close it may be a good idea for team captains to try and gauge interest from their teammates as many are perhaps not using the site at the moment due to no league action.
Just a thought

There seems to be a severe lack of names entered so far considering the amount of teams entered last year. Is there a reason for this or is everyone giving it the usual last minute response?
Come on folks whack your names down!

Yes Boo you are still needed - more than ever with a couple of retirements imminent!
Not sure if there is a minimum amount of games needed to be played but if there is you would have plenty of time to meet this criteria.
Cheers.

Agreed, I think players have represented Elgin in the past having played only a couple of games for an EDPL team. Having spoken to a few of the usual interleague suspects last week i have no doubt that there are far more interested than are on the list........but for various reasons very few are able to committ 100 % . This makes things tricky with the first payment deadline only just over a week away...............and the SEPF would never extend a payment deadline ! would they ? Personally speaking I would think we could have at the very least 2 teams...........I have no idea how they will be selected this year as it has not been discussed as far as I am aware.

Any players that have played in either of the region4 leagues can put in a combined team this year.

Can I suggest the payment deadline is way too early ! It was well into October last year.
I realise that the format etc was announced last month but its difficult enough to get players just to commit to going to the event at this early stage ....let alone pay out £ 25 or £ 50 for an event which is still over 3 months away.
I am convinced that Elgin will have at the very least 2 teams but unless we find a fairy godmother in the next few days I cannot see us making the payment deadline .
Regards
Raymond

Interesting to note that Region 1 (mostly ADPL players and SPA 1 year trial members) will have 2 teams. Surely this precedent paves the way for a wee trial ourselves next year? Especially if those who want to can play in the SEPF interleague next year as well as the tours and keeping world rules in the league.
I hope this happens because the ADPL have had a great year with all the pool on offer to them. Speaking of which, any word on when we are going to have our meeting with the SPA and the SEPF Brad?

It wont adam because next year it wont be allowed. Their are already proposals to stop this back door antics in place for the agm. So your choice is clear spa or sepf. And i will not be entering into any discussion on a forum about it.

Interesting...
The rule is already in place Mike. It was voted on and agreed at the EGM in Kirkcaldy last October, in several committee meetings since and also in the copy of the Constitution which was voted in at the AGM (the one that's been heavily edited after it was accepted by the AGM - I know as I wrote it!).
Point 52 of the 2012 SEPF Constitution: The SEPF Scottish Interleague is a team event open to representative teams from paid up, affiliated pool leagues.
That says nothing about entering Regional teams. We all agreed that only league select teams would play. This was to avoid what happened last year with Sh88ters and Lockerbie fielding teams of ringers. At least Andy Eager had the balls to admit he bent the rules!
After the fiasco with the Scottish Singles being moved because of your personal issues this really doesn't surprise me. What organisation wouldn't want to retain a league as large as ours?
Unbelievable and to be honest I'm past caring about the SEPF after some of the things which happened this year which left me no option but to walk away rather than get dragged down with you lot.

Well if we take the recent posts from the SEPF regarding the payment deadline for this years Interleague we need to act now.
We have six names on the 'interested' list........I am still convinced there are more interested players who maybe have not seen this or are 'biding' their time waiting to see how teams will be picked !
A few options.....selection committe as we did last year, teams of mates as has happened almost every year before, etc etc
Fact is as a priority we have to get as a minimum deposit £ 250 per team to The SEPF on or before next Friday. Personally I am not happy about parting with that amount of cash 3 full months prior to the event but I am not prepared to take the responsibility of ignoring the deadline
I will speak to as many as I can at the tour event tomorrow. If any of you who are interested want to take your deposit that would be a start.
I will be happy to collect payments but I need definite names and numbers For a max 10 man team I will need £ 25.00 deposit per player before the end of the month, but I would suggest that teams are more likely to have 8 or 9. I will leave you guys to do the maths.
I don't have oodles of time to spend on this at then moment so some help would be appreciated.
Cheers Raymond

Raymond, I've passed your phone number on to Derek Ahern, Trendy's also as I have no idea what Keith are doing. Payment deadline may be flexible but derek needs to know how many teams are entering so he can work out schedules.
Point to note: The SEPF have declined the offer to attend our affiliation EGM. The SPA will be attending. I'm trying to arrange a date for sometime in Oct or Nov (probably a Mon or Fri evening). I'll give plenty notice when it's arranged.

Ok thanks Brad, I will be in touch with Derek this week to let him know where we are with regards to the Interleague.
I understand from some of the Keith lads that they cannot generate enough interest to field a team . However those that play in the EDPL are keen to represent Elgin.
After speaking to several folk yesterday it is clear that there are plenty of players interested in the Interleague....the uncertainty over how teams will be selected seems to be the main reason for the low number of 'official' names on the list.
Personally I think I would like to continue the process we started last year and organize a committe to select the team. We could argue that it didn't work last year but I feel its worth another try. Obviously picking a team(s) like that is difficult and in the end has to come down to personal opinions. I think this summers singles league is a good example of how a selection committee can work....I dont really think anyone could argue that the players were divided up as fairly as possible. I am not sure using the tour rankings or player of the season results is a viable alternative....If I were to use myself as an example I finished nowhere in last years POTS and prior to yesterdays tour I would be struggling to get into any of the teams due to my low ranking position ! Other players are in a similar position.
These are just my opinions.....please feel free to offer suggestions ....sooner rather than later !
The Interleague is a great event and it will be a travesty if Elgin does not send at least a couple of teams down.
Player list has been updated.
