Yes nothing official as of yet. Would be a big move in uniting the game if the pro's moved to Blackball. Im not sure I would want to be playing the rule set that wasn't endorsed by the very best players.

Lol , do we also all want to be playing on DPT pool tables with grey cloth because the very best players would appear to be endorsing them aswell ? Actually , maybe we do as they look pretty smart . Time will tell and what will be will be and any other relevant cliches ! Just out of interest I never saw any of the pro tournament last week, how did it come across....led to believe it was pretty good viewing ? Set up/ tables certainly looked good in some photos I did see !

The Omega ones with the tight corners and massive middles. The set up looked ace and I enjoyed the commentators - Mick Hill was particularly good. The grey cloth was fine but I thought the stripey 8ball was a bit naff as well as impractical. All in all a great step forward. However, with all the steps forward, including a switch to blackball, would there be much point in toiling away with world rules when the top echelon have binned them?

I dont particularly have anything against DPT tables. I like our one at the Tennants (although others don't)which I think is the Ascot model. For some reason which I cant quite put my finger on I dont feel comfortable on the Omega ones.....much in the same way I dont feel in control on the fast cloths in Aberdeen.
Its me thats the problem not the tables.
Regarding your original post ....we will just have to wait and see what pans out...... whats the name of that famous Fleetwood Mac album again..............ah yes ....RUMOURS.

Hi all
just thought i better jump on here and give you guys a few facts. The IPA is not going BB it will remain as long as the players see fit to play WR. It is a company called ONQ that is running the WC to BB and its the same company that will run a WR event next year. ONQ do not have any affiliation to any governing body. The age of the dinosaur is coming to an end lol

Adam, the stripey black and set of colours that go with them are great. I played a whole day with them in Shooters last Sunday. Basically they are the set of balls you're supposed to buy with the spotty cue ball (as far as I understand it) Aramith Pro Cup. Slightly heavier, great reaction and control.

On another point, I played a race to 10 blackball Rules, out of the sixteen frames I played rules only came into into play in three or four frames. I like them as much as WR to be honest. Different but not too different. For those who are unfamiliar with them, its basically old league rules with the hitting the cushion rule.

Not bothered about the balls at all, just thought it was a bit odd to have a stripey 8 ball. I'm sure the quality of the balls are spot on.
Mike, I would think that it is a matter of time before the IPA tour changes rules given their endorsement of the ONQ event. Will the SEPF be running qualifiers for this World Professional Championships as has been intimated elsewhere? If so, will players that play in it be banned from WEPF/EEPF events and will these qualifiers be played to BB rules?

Adam, The IPA exec have told us that they will stay with WR unless the players want change and it seems at the moment its WR they want. The endorsement of the ONQ event is little more than getting the message across to a certain individual lol. ONQ as independents will promote WR and BB which i think is a great move. The SEPF have playoff places but as you can imagine we are waiting to the AGM in Blackpool to make sure our players dont get banned.

Yes I hope that clarity is provided on these issues after the WEPF AGM. I wish you guys well at that meeting.

I see the World Professional Champiionships were rebranded and then cancelled. Maybe BB isn't the future after all...
