Brad, whats the projected entry field? 11am start?
Also, i'll re-iterate Adams question above, is one of the tables a 6x3?

Have spoken to Flo today, it'll be an 11AM start, doors will be open earlier. There will be around 64 max entrants, we'll do it the usual way, fees paid and draw made at 11. Yes, two of the tables are 6 footers, brand new. The other are 7 footers. There'll be six tables in total, thanks to the Commercial for sorting it out and looks like Keith now have a mini pool hall!

Brad,
I assume this means all players are through for 11am or prior, instead of the Friday night draw like Tour Event 1?

Whats the though behind doing the draw on the day again, rather than the night before? First tour was ideal with the friday night draw, saved folk waiting for hour upon hour to get a game and gave everyone a rough idea when they would be on.

Maybe concerns about no shows? A high number of these would negate the effectiveness of a timed draw...

Train through from Elgin leaves at 0955 arrives in Keith at 1015. £10 all day open return.

Seemples - a no show without valid reason and your due the tour your entry fee and banned from next event.
I'd rather deal with a few no shows than 64 players congregating at once, then subsequently waiting hours for a game.
Just seems like a case of one step forward, two steps back. But what do i know, im merely just a participant.
Apologies if its seems im being negative or having a go at the organisers, who by and large nailed it at city club and have a thankless task at times.

Yes it is quite simple in theory but in practice it is a bit more difficult. With potentially a lot more no shows, what effect would a load of bans or debt suspensions have on the next event?
I think the timed draws were limited in their success last time but that's not to say that they shouldn't be used again. Brad will no doubt have his own reasons for on the day draws but that's his prerogative as tournament director, up to him to share his views as I'm just guessing really...

I just need to know either way so i can organise childcare. I am happy to commit to the tour event however the draw is made. Got to say though i liked how the first event was organised and run. I was one of the last first round games and didn't play until 4.30pm. As serious as i take the pool tour i don't fancy sitting in Keith waiting for hours to play when i can simply drive through nearer my allocated time.

Hi all, I understand your concerns.
The Friday night draw last time was forced by the massive entry field and the need to stick to a really tight schedule (which we did somehow!).
Going ahead to next season we plan to have a payment deadline for each event. As we are currently taking payments on the day, it doesn't make the best sense to do the draw the night before as people will invariably let us down. I know its a small minority (5% of players at first event) but it does affect other player's rankings.
For instance a few top players went out in the prelims last time but other players in the first round proper were given byes as their opponent didn't turn up, meaning that without playing a game, some players found themselves up to 12 points ahead of guys who got knocked out in the prelims.
If for next season we say all entry fees must be paid by 7PM Friday the draw can be made at 8PM and timings published as we did for the City Club event. It would probably be an idea to have regional entry fee collectors to make this easier, maybe one person each in Keith, Lhanbryde, Elgin, Burghead, and Lossiemouth for example. Thoughts?
There's also the fact that we need the support of the venues and putting it bluntly, the venues will be more than happy to have 64 players sat round for a few hours and will be more inclined to go out of their way to provide better facilities for us.
Having said that, if players have genuine reasons as to why they can't make an 11AM start, please contact me directly and if possible, I'll arrange a more convenient time for your first game. This offer is only valid as long as people don't abuse it. If 64 players ring me tonight and say they can't make it until 2PM then I'll end up having to say no!

Sound Brad, cheers for the clarification - pleased the friday night draw hasn't been dingy'd and understand the rationale behind it.

Well done to Neil and unlucky Ian. I know Neil came through some squeaky matches on deciders early doors so always sweet to win after matches like that.
Couple of points to make. I thought that standard of tables etc was much improved from the last event held there although there were difficulties with the varying type of table, pocket sizes and table sizes. Overall, the tables were level which is obviously important. The running of the event was very well done by Flo and trendy, match turnaround was very quick and issues resolved quickly.
My main bone of contention was with the balls though. They were very old and unresponsive. Would be an idea to buy match balls for future events as this would make a big difference. Maybe these could be purchased from region 4 funds and taken to each event?

Funnily enough I mentioned that to Tony this morning....could perhaps share the cost with the EDPL. For example at one the venues for the next round of singles I know the condition of the balls on one table is atrocious. A few decent sets of tournament balls wouldnt cost that much.
Have to say i thought the Commercial did a great job. Like any other venue in our area it is not possible to get 6 identical quality tables at a cost which is viable. Its just the way it is and we all just have to make the best of it.

Congrat's on YET ANOTHER tour event win Neill ;-)
Great effort from Ian, we'll get a Keith winner afore too long.
Good to see Alan Duncan bringing back the years and showing what he can do.
Looks like Flo and the Comm got it more or less on the money yesterday with the quality of tables etc and after playing in a few team comps there last season I knew the organisation would be top draw.

well done neil simpson, a really good win watched a few of his matches, very tough competitor. unlucky ian, great effort. 4 keith lads in the last 8, were getting there, home venue and tables probably made us more comfortable but i can see huge improvement in most of our games. the day ran brilliant flo and trendy, great job. commercial made the best job they possibly could with what room they had. my only negative point was seeing bondies win a first round match then receiving a buy in next round??? couldnt work out why that could happen. anyway another cracking day and looking forward to going back to elgin for event 3!

Hmm, only reason hr'd get a second round bye woul be if opponent withdrew, i wasn't aware of that!
Well done and thanks to Flo and Trendy!
Well done once again to Neill!
Adam, very good point about balls, shouln't be too difficult to sort out a few sets of tournament balls.

reason bondies got bye was as his opponent got bye in first round and didn't turn up to event.

Just wondering why someone could get a bye and not turn up when the names were taken on the saturday and the draw was made on the sat morning also. Thought that was the reason the draw was NOT made on the friday night. Im sure others will be wondering this. Saturday was a really good day. Well done to all, was thoroughly enjoyable.

Yes well done Neil Simpson. I was up 3-1 against him in quarters and made some silly mistakes, forgetting which colour I was on being one of them. Thanks to Graeme Scales for lending me his cue, my tip broke at start of my last 16 against Fyffe lol. The event was run very well so hats off to Flo, Trendy and the commercial. I agree with Adam the balls were cold and dirty and was difficult to get much from them. The single table I thot was awful, crazy pockets and sooo many bounce outs although I understand the difficulty in getting enough tables for such a big event. Great to see some new faces in the later rounds, I hope there's more to come. Look forward to the next event.

200, 100, 50x2, 20x4 mate.
Who was the player who didn't turn up? I'm confused as everyone paid their entry fees!
