Hi all,
We now have space for 86 players in the event. All players who are down as reserves are now in.
If anyone can't play, they have until 6PM on Friday 10th Feb to notify me by text, phonecall or email.
If I don't hear from you, you're in the draw and will be held liable for the £10 entry fee which will have to be paid before entering any other events.
The draw will be made on the Friday night and will be posted here for all to see. I'll put approximate timings down so players who are on at the end of the first round don't spend six hours watching the prelims and rest of the first round (unless you want to of course).
The prelims (last 128) will kick off at 11AM prompt. The Club has a licence to serve alcohol until 1AM but will remain open as long as it takes for us to finish the comp (around 1AM by my estimation), however, all alcohol must be consumed by 1:15AM.
Reminder, £20 due on day one, thats £10 entry fee and £10 annual affiliation.
Should be a cracker.
Bring it on!
Brad.

What's the prize structure pal?
|
|
|
Post by Brad on Jan 22, 2012 0:07:57 GMT 1
I'm going to suggest a total prize pay out of £600 made up like this:
£225 WINNER £125 Runner Up £75 x 2 Semis £25 x 4 Quarters
£600 TOTAL
This will allow us to bank some money, hopefully with the view to purchasing some world class pool tables this year.

We need to get it down to 64 so if we have 82 as at the monent, there'll 18 prelim games involving 36 players to get us there. If you avoid the prelims, you get the points for a 3-0 win in the prelim round. This stops a runner up who won a prelim getting more points than the winner! It'll all make sense on the day if you haven't been to one before mate.

Brad, whats the number of tables being used? 8?

Post by Brad on Feb 3, 2012 19:43:15 GMT 1
Only seven mate, got the schedule worked out for 86 players and 7 tables. It'll be tight so no smoke breaks during games, no dead table time etc. The next players on each table will be displayed on the big screen so no excuses! If players aren't there when called, they'll have five minutes to lag or be disqualified.
The schedule has thew final starting at midnight. Bar serves til 1AM but the club will accommodtae us providing all drinks are finished by 1:15AM. Should be a cracker, draw made on Friday night to speed things up, first games will start at 11AM sharp. I'll post draw and schedule on here around 9PM Friday night.

Aye not ideal but hopefully we'll be able to start buying our own tables at some point this season. Still, might be a long day but at least there's room for 86 players. Haven't had to turn anyone away yet. What we need is someone with the money to buy the Two Red Shoes and stick a dozen tables in there! Would make a killing!

we were discussing it tonight with the boys at the ionic and just posting on here is not the best idea as not everyone uses the website, boys in my team thought it started at 12 and thought i was taking the piss when i told them there is a dress code, might be worth texting people to let them know whats happening or even putting leaflets around the pubs if possible

Can't do that though Garey as I haven't got the time to text everyone or to put leaflets round the pubs. That's why I said at the last two AGMs to use the website. Anyway, surely everyone must know about the dress code by now? I've informed everyone who I have contact details for of the time. It"s hard to believe people can't get on the internet now that it's more accesible than ever?

yeah i know but the point we were making is that not everyone uses the website whether they have internet access or not, only a select few check the website on a regular basis. not everyone will know about the dress code as not everyone played on the tour last year, what are you going to do if half the people turn up in jeans? are you going to turn them away? not trying to be awkward or anything just a few points that were raised in a discussion we had last night

Garey, i think if they do not wear smart clothing is a bit lazy on their part. But probably the best idea would be anyone with jeans etc let them off first time as they will not have the excuse at the next tour... Brads right though, why should he run after others, its sometimes a hard enough job as it is that he does. As for 12 oclock for the final, we all know it will never run to schedule. Take interleague for example with all that planning never runs to perfection ..... Not that i will still be in the tournament by midnight!!! LOL

I have to agree with what Brad and Ben are saying. The players entered into this event have a responsibility to find out the info for themselves.....after all its all there to be seen . I really don't get why people don't use the website , if you go through every one of the 86 entrants I will bet that the vast majority use facebook and are computer savvy therefore there is no reason why they can't look on here - they don't even have to register to look at the posts. That in conjunction with the folk who do know the details passing them on to team-mates etc should be more than ample in my opinion. After all at least 86 people have found out about the tour in the first place
Brad, it's probably too late now but how about making up a slip with the forum address and other contact details on it and stating that this will be the main source of information in the future for the tour. I would be happy to to this but not going to have time now before next weekend.
Cheers

I've already put the SEPF forum details on the affiliation forms mate, can easily add the EDPL details on the R4 slips as haven't printed them yet.

Ok guys I think we require some clarity here for all players attending the event, bofore the event starts. What will the penalty be for players turning up with either incorrect dress code, or being late for their match.
Are players turning up late for their game going to be on the clock (with loss of 1 frame for each 5 minutes as happens certainly in Aberdeen)?
Likewise dress code? In my opinion you can't say you're implementing a dress code for events and then allow people to play who do not have the correct dress code., without penalty That would not be fair on the people who are wearing the correct dress. I'm sure we would all rather play in casual clothing.
Your thoughts Brad plz?

5 minutes after call for game, if you're not there then you're out. Apart from the players who are on first, everyone else will be asked to turn up two hours before I expect them to play so there shouldn't be any problems. The draw and approximate timings will be posted here on Fri night. First games at 11 AM.
As for dress code, my idea would be first offence = 5 points penalty. Second offence = disqualification. Would that be reasonable? Everyone who played last season should know now.
I'd also rather play in casual clothing but the National Committee decided that the dress code would apply to all events in the interests of promoting the game by showing that it's a serious sport and not just a pub game for people with nothing better to do in ther lives! The website is one of the first places potential sponsors visit and it doesn't look good having photos of the Scottish Open winner wearing a football shirt etc. We decided that that was totally unacceptable and wouldn't happen again.
Whilst I voted against a dress code for regional tournaments, I have to go with the majority decision and implement it I'm afraid!
Players are all welcome to bring jeans in a bag to get dressed down for Downtowns afterwards ha ha!

Yes I think people should know about dress code by now. I'll believe sponsors when I see them but can see the premise of what the SEPF are saying. I believe we started with dress code last season at tour 4, is that right? I think we said that the rules would be fairly loose at that time but would be enforced stringently during this season. So fair warning was given. In addition to this, I feel Brad is being fair to players by giving them a chance with the ranking points deduction and then disqualification for a second offence. Will the 5 points be per item of clothing?
As regards not being on time, this is more difficult. I feel 5 mins is very harsh to lose the match. Will exceptional circumstances be taken into account?
