Hi all,
This year there will be an Interleague singles comp. One player from each team, plus one from each region at a cost of £50 each. 32 players in total.
It's up to us how we want to do it, I'd suggest internal team trials with each player chipping in £6 or so to make up the £50 entry fee. Just an idea, what do you lot think?
If any team doesn't want their singles place, let me know ASAP.
Any ideas how to allocate the regional singles place? The obvious thing that springs to mind is that Adam Macleod deserves it as overall tour winner. Will cost him £50 though unless we can think of a way of doing it?

I don't wish to play in the singles comp so I will pull my name out at this stage.

Internal play off for a place sounds like a good idea but time may be a factor. Are we all going to be able to get together for a wee knockout comp?
As regards the regional place, I don't fancy paying the £50 entry myself tbh! Should have kept some of the winnings from the tour! Playoff for that too would be my preference.

I will text the rest of the guys in the 'A' team about this at the start of the week - just feel I'm bombarding everyone with texts at the moment !! If there is sufficient interest for a play-off then I'm sure we would find the time to do it.
On a personal note I'm not really bothered about playing singles whilst at a team event but I would be happy to play in a qualifier if thats what the majority decide. £ 50 is a hell of an entry fee is it not ?

Yeah but it's big prize money for the players who make it through to that stage!

Perhaps it may be fitting for the moray county championship winner to get the regional place? If the interleague singles is to run each year then it could be an additional prize for the winner of that tournament...

I suppose overall tour winner gets their prize with the squad place so why not?

Fyffe would like to accept the regional singles spot and has paid me the £ 50 entry fee.

Fyffe would like to accept the regional singles spot and has paid me the £ 50 entry fee. Good stuff. Does that mean it's me, you, Dave and Tony paying our £12.50 to play off for the A team's place on the 5th Nov? If so, what format we gonna play?

Well i suppose i could be persuaded to participate ! Seeing as there is only four how's about a round robin ?......if we have time that is.

Yes that sounds fine. Everyone plays everyone and then a final or just straight frames difference after round robin?

Only thing is I know there are concerns about the singles qualifier causing delays on the day.....wouldn't want it to interfere with the team thing.
How many teams are we hoping to have on the 5th ?
Also I know having spoke to Bowl 2k on a work matter this week that he is planning setting up 5 tables....could one be allocated for the singles and the other 4 be enough for the team thing ?

Personally I think the guys should play there qualifier on an alternative day or even in their own time and the 5th should purely be for the team competition. The way people have been speaking we could see a fair number of teams turning out for this and delays are bound to happen.

There is nothing to stop teams playing their qualifiers wherever and whenever they like. The 5th was just a suggestion. Personally I don't think we will have more than 6 teams playing but of course I could be wrong. 4 tables would be more than enough in this instance however.
I am happy to play our games on our own time if that calms the fears of those competing in the team event...

Ok, As i have just said to you in a text Adam W, my priority is with the team and I don't want anything to interfere with that. In all honesty I've said from the start I'm not keen on playing in the singles so to make things easier (for me anyway ;D) I will drop out and leave the other 3 to sort it out.
There is a singles place up for grabs and if the guys want to play it out on that day then that is up to them... i honestly don't think that 3 guys playing 3 or 4 games would cause many delays - they could start an hour earlier if it came to that. I'm sure it can be worked round .
Bottom line is as captain I would like all team members to be there on the 5th....... and I don't want anything to jepordise that ...simples !

Playing it on the day is ok just didn't fancy hanging around too late, want to either get back home and chill out wi my horlics and watch a couple of movies (not porn) or go oot and get blazing up town wi some of the lads lol.
Think playing the singles qualifier before the main team event is sensible.

Surely all team players could afford £ 6.25 to pay for the singles place even if their not playing in it. I would be more than willing to do that even for my arch rival Mr Lessons LOL ;-)

Phew, so thats that settled then ! Out of interest have they had singles at the interleague in previous years ? Seems a strange one to me ! Its not as if there aren't enough singles comps over the rest of the year. Just my own humble opinion.j

5 tables should work fine. 2 tables for a team match means you can have two matches at all times and a singles table for play off.
I also agree that singles events shouldn't be included at Interleague but with the lack of a university tournament there's plenty time to fit it in and it adds an extra bit of excitement to the weekend.

I think the Interleague should be a team event only, plain and simple, totally disagree with including a singles comp.......and that's coming from someone who loves playing in singles events.

So, are we playing it on the 5th then?! Woody, I couldn't possibly accept the £6.25 from you as that might eat too far into your Horlicks fund... ;D

Lol! No worries bud. I got a good hours practice masel. Dave phoned earlier in the day to say he couldn't manage because of work.
Dave said he would pay his £17 or whatever as he couldn't arrange another date. Do you want to still play off for the place another time?
