----------
1) Meldrum Cup Draw
The Meldrum Cup Draw was made by Susan Collins and Adam Macleod with Susan picking the home teams and Adam picking the away teams.
The draw will be made available on the website.
2) Player of the Season.
The Secretary explained that few pubs outside of division one have either been filling in the scorecards correctly or making an effort to ensure they are kept safe.
In light of this, an idea was put forward by Debby Greig to have each team nominate their player of the season and have them put forward to a divisional KO competition in the summer.
Whilst this is a good idea, the Secretary reported that feedback from teams who had completed their cards correctly is that they shouldn't be penalised by having the goalposts moved and if other teams can't produce their scorecards, the competition should carry on with only those teams who are doing it correctly considered for the prize.
Susan Collins pointed out that this was penalising players becasue either their Captain, bar staff or a cleaner was responsible, not them.
Ian McLennan requested that the Secretary communicate to team Captains ensuring they are aware of the rules and asking them to try and recover the situation.
It was agreed that the Secretary will do this.
Point of note: The only team in Division one who's scorecards cannot be accounted for are Flanagans C. Tony McCallion has said he will try and remember who won the frames in their home games so far and the Secretary will check this with the opposing team captains.
3) The Secretary and Garey Steele who currently keeps the league results mobile phone both expressed their concern over the amount of teams who are failing to text in their results.
For some reason lots of Captains think it is the home team who have the responsibility of texting in. This is the second season in which the winning team captain has the responsibility to text in scores.
It is in the league constitution that failure to text in will result in a 0-0 draw with zero points awarded being declared. Ian Mclennan pointed out that by doing this, it could effect other teams not involved in the match but who may be relegated or denied a title by a team who do not have their frame difference altered having lost a game because their opposition didnt text in.
It was agreed by all present that teams who don't text in will receive the folowing penalties:
Three failueres to text in one season: 2 points deducted
Subsequent failure to text: 2 points deducted
This rule will be enforced for the remainder of the season and will be proposed for addition to the constitution at the next AGM.
4) Feedback on new league format
The feedback on the Scotch Doubles has proved excellent with most teams, but not all, finding it more of a team game.
The extra game which allows for a draw is also proving very popular with almost all teams in favour.
The ability to play a player twice in the singles is popular although not with all teams. Adam Macleod pointed out that some teams feel inclined to play seven players if they have seven available. The Secretary and the Chairman both said that they would play their strongest six with one player playing twice if it was a key game. It was decided that this is purely down to the Captain and whether or not he wants to please his players and keep everyone happy or play the strongest team available to him event though it might mean one player playing twice and another not at all.
5) Adam Macleod briefed the meeting on an invation from the Scottish Pool Association (SPA) for all Scottish Eightball Pool Federation (SEPF) to affiliate to both governing bodies for a season long trial.
The Secretary explained that the SEPF had already voted to revoke the membership of any league who attempts this and that this decision was made largel6y because of the restrictions based on players by the SPA.
The matter was discussed at length with all persons present having their say. Eventually a vote wa sheld to decide whether the matter should go to an EGM to decide whether it was worth Elgin affiliating to the SPA.
The proposal was outvoted by 4 votes to 3 although it may well be discussed again at the AGM in the summer.
6) Interleague Polo Shirts
The Secretary explained how the Elgin kebab House who had committed to covering the costs for 24x polo shirts for Elgin's 3 Interleague Teams, had withdrawn thei offer at the final minute due to financial reasons.
The Secretary asked the meeting if the EDPL could cover the costs of the polo shirts, estimated at approximately £300.
Ian Mclennan suggested that if the EDPL apply for a Sport Moray grant (set at £500 per year per team) this would be acceptable.
The Secretary replied that he had already looked in to this and it should be a formality.
All present agreed that the polo shirts would be paid for by the league fund this year and each year thereafter providing the Sport Moray grant is received.
7) The meeting closed with no date set for a further meeting.
