We are all new to the sepf/world rules format and although we have changed the way we do things there is still one thing that i think we need to put forward. Referees! The way other top/experienced leagues do it is every frame a player will referee a frame having sole and final decision. Every alternate frame a player from the other team will put up a ref and vise versa. This referee must be playing in the match. I understand that this may not be possible this season as not everyone knows the rules well enough but i think its the way forward. What do you all think?

Hi Tony,
I think you are probably right about needing referees. However I have to say generally speaking in all the years I have been playing in Elgin there have been very few incidents that we have not been able to sort out without too much argy bargy, this is only my experience ! On the other hand there have been situations where all hell has been let loose to put it mildly. It would actually help in our understanding of the rules aswell.
I definitly hear what you are saying !

Totally agree with the implementation of alternate referees. His/her decision is final, everyone has a go and becomes more famliar with the rules.

Hi Tony!
I agree completely, Elgin is the only league I've ever played in where there isn't a ref. In Newcastle we used to play Away Captain refs first game then the winner of that game refs the next, etc...
I had to replay a frame last season when I was accused of fouling but was adamant I hadn't. Both captains missed the shot and everyone else sided with their player. Believe me though, having a ref doesn't cut out arguments, someone's always unhappy with a decision.
We're having time-keepers this season so we'll see how that goes and could maybe have refs too next season if everyone wants?
I suppose it's one of them things (like the time-keepers) where lots of teams will just agree on the night not to bother but it would mean that against teams known to be problematic you could insist on refs.
