Dear all,
Unfortunately several teams are persistently failing to text in match results.
As stated at the AGM, in league games this will result in a first and final warning followed by subsequent games being declared a 0-0 draw with NO points awarded to either team.
Contrary to popular belief, the WINNING CAPTAIN has the responsibility to text in the result within 24 hours - not the home captain. This is the same as last season and all teams bar one managed perfectly fine last year.
There is a new number to text results to. It's on the back off all scorecards and fixture lists.
Cup tie results which haven't been texted in will still attract the first and final warning but obviously I need to know the winner so I can the opposition in the next round know who they're playing.
Player of the Season Rankings were due to be calculated from the results on scorecards. Today a couple of players from the league began collecting cards but after visiting six pubs (12 teams) only managed to collect in TWO scorecards from league games and neither of those had ticks to show who had won the frames.
Another player who collected in some cards has commented that only first names have been filled out.
As a result of this, unless teams can find the scorecards, fill them out correctly and get them to me, the player of the year ranking system will more than likely be knocked on the head for the remainder of the season.
We will shortly be having a committee meeting to discuss alternative options.
At the end of the day, all team captains who were at the AGM knew about the system and I made a point of speaking to all the team Captains who weren't represented at the AGM. I'd like to say it's a minority of teams but unfortunately it would seem the majority simply haven't bothered.
If any of the following teams can account for their league scorecards please let me know ASAP.
Flanagans A - D4
Flanagans C - D1
Thunderton A - D4
Thunderton B - D4
Diceys - D3
Reilly's - D4
Cottar Hoose A - D2
Cottar Hoose B - D2
New Club A - D2
New Club B - D3
I have some cards from the Seaforth, White Horse and the Ionic who all made a point of handing them to me.
There's a few of us put a lot of time and effort into helping run the league and I really don't understand why team captains can't take 30 seconds to text in a result. What's the point of playing if you don't want to advance in competitions or claim points for a league win? We only had one problem team last season but quite a few early on this year.
If any other teams reading this have retained all their scorecards and they are filled ouit correctly, please let me know.
Brad.
