Hi all,
I'm really happy to announce that 33 teams have entered the League this year which is excellent considering we ended last year with only 27.
The extra team will be placed in the Fourth Division meaning they will have two extra games to play. The reason behind this is that historically teams in the lower divisions, particularly new teams, are more likely to drop out during the season than well established, higher placed teams. As Division Four suffered several drop outs last year, having nine teams should help keep numbers up whilst also giving the players the value for money they didn't receive last year.
As a result of having 33 teams, there will be one preliminary match in the Division Four Cup and one in the Knockout Cup. The prelims will be contested by four of the six new teams in the League (drawn at random). There will be no place in the Consolation Cup or Meldrum Cup for the losers of the prelims.
The Divisions will look like this for the new season:
DIVISION ONE
1 Flanagans C
2 Ionic A
3 Tennant Arms A
4 Station Burghead
5 White Horse A
6 Harbour Inn
7 White Horse B
8 Seaforth Club
DIVISION TWO
1 Kirkie A
2 New Club A
3 Bonnie Earl A
4 Cottar Hoose A
5 Tennant Arms B
6 Rising Sun A
7 Cottar Hoose B
8 The Granary
DIVISION THREE
1 Bonnie Earl B
2 New Club B
3 Ionic B
4 Rising Sun B
5 Bowl 2000
6 Diceys
7 City Club
8 Bonnie Earl C
DIVISION FOUR
1 Caberfeidh
2 Flanagans A
3 Braemou
4 Tennant Arms C
5 Thunderton A
6 Thunderton B
7 Commercial, Burghead
8 Golden Pheasant
9 Reilly's (Dicey's B)
I'll get cracking with the fixture lists and as soon as they are finalised will deliver them to the pubs/clubs in plenty time for kicking off the season.
The draws for the Knockout Cup and Division Cups will be made at the final SEPF Region 4 Tour Event of the Season, this Saturday at the Bowl 2000. Time TBA.
Thanks,
Brad.
