Came accross this idea today. How about a region 4 premier league? Sort of like the darts do. 4, 6 or 8 players maybe picked by tour rankings or the peoples selection of the best? Matches can be played in your own time during the summer league break? I can think of who my 8 would be and would be an interesting set up! What do yous think?

Perhaps several divisions like they do in Styx?
I reckon you would need to come up with a proper format and research interest. Unfortunately not many players use this website. You could bring your ideas for format, entry fees, payouts, venues etc along to presentation night and see if you could drum up some interest...
I would like to play in something like this but it may prove difficult to get the time to play what with the golf season starting to get into full flow...

Yeah something like that, with prize money and promotion up for grabs etc. Would be a relatively simple concept.
Either you have 4 months to play your 7 matches then onto semis or final.
Or have set match weeks say event starts on june 1st, u have 2 weeks to fulfil your fixture then on june 15th 2 weeks for your second fixture .
Or even make it wednesday nights, 4 tables at the bowl ?
Top 4 after all matches qualify for finals.
Very easy to run if we cud get all players agreeing on set up.
C'mon people speak up!

Ok, I would like to be involved in something like this. Only thing I would add is I'm not sure if I would like every Wednesday during the summer to be taken up with pool.

A wednesday night during summer would be ok. I would be happy to play at the bowl. If you could get them to add a bit to the pot and provide 4 tables you could play a good few singles matches from a 1930 start.
Like I said above, you need to make up an information leaflet or poster or whatever so that you can hand it out on presentation night. That way people can go away and think about what is being proposed with all the info in front of them. Once you get a list of players together you can get a committee together and divide players in leagues of 8-10 players based on the committee's opinion of their level. As you say promotion/relegation each year would be good...

The logical thing to do would be to base it on the top 8 to 10 players from the district singles.

But with that Ian you wont get the best 8 in the first division and it would take a year or 2 to level out. Like putting elgin city in spl and hearts in div 3. I could name a few of my top 8 who didnt get through to the last 16 of the singles and even though these players may be interested in playing would they start off in a lower division that they would possibly walk? Keep the feedback coming though this is just MY personal opnions

Just to be clear I think this is a great idea and would definitly like to be involved in it. If you want to call it a premier league then I feel you would be looking for the strongest players to play in that league. How you would decide which players would play in each division to start with is a tricky one........ I think you would have to see who is interested first and take it from there. There is nothing to really gauge it from within the league apart from possibly the singles , the tour has definite top players currently outside the top 8 or even 10 at the moment. I would have a top 8 / 10 in mind aswell but I will keep that to myself for the moment Here is a thought, How about getting a list of interested players made up. Hand this list out to all who want to play and get them to put a tick next to the 8 or 10 players they think should be in the top division (excluding themselves of course). That way it can be done anonimously and would be fair to everyone. Just an afterthought

I'll echo Adam and say knock up a poster and canvas people for interest on Finals Day Tony. Find out who's interested first and take it from there. As Adam also said, not everyone uses this site so getting round the players on finals day will be the best thing to do.
Good idea though. If you're playing in your own time could you not have a larger division? You'd also need rules about where to play and who's responsibility it is to organise matches. Maybe copying Aberdeen's way would be a good start?
If there were a lot of players interested would you be looking at running more than one division? Also, would you volunteer to run the admin side of it, collecting scores, updating league etc? I'd happily share login details to the league republic site to set up a web based league table for this.
While I'm on the case, I'm looking for a match secretary for next season to share some of my workload with! Mainly updating scores etc... Any volunteers or nominations welcome!

I'd be keen for this, to be honest i'll gladly play in anything to make sure of a game over the summer.

Il drum up a poster/leaflet with all proposals. Get as much interest as possible and we can work it from there. League amount and size will depend on entry. I really want a minimum of 2 leagues for this so league size may start off smaller if we dont get required interest for say a ten man league. I will do my bit to sort out structure and fees pay-out etc. If everyone can try and spread the word for this around there local etc. With regards to allocating players into divisions i think Raymonds idea is a very reasonable one. Brad - Im not the greatest with the website thing but if there is already some sort of program with a formula set up for this kinda thing then id happily input data. Regarding next season if its just a case of adding scores to the website then i cud maybe help but dont think id have them updated ad rapidly as u get them done haha.

I must reiterate that my preference for time, date and venue would be 1930 on we'd nights at the bowl. I am sure they would set up the five tables for this if asked.
If players could not play the odd game on wednesdays etc, they could arrange with eachother to play games at convenient times...

It does make sense to have it on wednesday nights as that is pool night.

But as Adam said, if u cant make a particualr Wednesday then all u need to do is arrange with your opponent a different day/venue. Only issue is if the Bowl 200 are to give us so many tables and set them up etc then we would need to maybe guarentee a certain amount of numbers each week but if we get required interest then it shud be fine.
