I will be at this AGM. Is it ok if I am able to speak about the tour etc? It may be that Derek wants to come up as well...
Cheers,
Adam.

Any points anyone would like to be raised at the AGM must be submitted in writing seven days in advance of the meeting, however, if anyone wants to post anything here I will accept it and present it at the AGM on the 18th.
Cheers,
Brad.

Brad, as we have discussed before I would like to put forward a change to the doubles to alternate shots. I think this is a much better format and evens out the playing field particularly in the lower divisions.

Cheers Brian, I'll add that to the agenda then. All I can do is promise to raise your point and put it to the vote.
On a personal note and to encourage debate; I think the scotch doubles format makes doubles more of a team game and encourages the weaker players to improve their game by communicating more with their partner.

I agree. An experienced player can help improve shot selection for their less experienced partner.

Can we talk about the lagging of the break rule, just so everyone is clear on how it will work.

No problems I'll put that in the agenda.
Just in case anyone isn't aware, it was decided at a meeting last season that lagging for the break will replace the toss of a coin this season. Lag for the first game then alternate break for the rest of the games.

Why not lag every frame? Surely that gives every player a chance at it and the best lags produce the break each time. Losing the lag and being punished for it continually may make players practice it...

It would make sense...

One of the main problems with Elgin pool was time taking. I agree that Scotch Doubles would be a good adittion to the rules but not so that playersl can communicae more with thier partner. The best way to do it wether its scotch or not, is that during the pairs first visit to the table they can discuss thier finish within the one minute but once the player touhes the table the pair cannot discuss shots for the remainder of the visit. Ive played world rules in a few different leagues and this is how its done. This also stops for example the stronger of the 2 players basically telling thier partner what shot to play.

Again, I agree completely Tony. It's the only league I've ever played in where partners can talk between shots. Hand on table = stop talking everywhere else!
AGM was last week though, scotch doubles outvoted by one point in the end. Bring your points up next summer and we'll see what we can do!

In all honesty I rarley talk to my doubles partner when it is his turn at the table unless of course they ask for advice. I certainly would have no problem with non conferring during a game.
