Tour Event 3 will take place on 19th May in the City Club.
Names below as usual please!
Tour Event 4 & 6 will take place at the Bowl 2000, which I'm assured now has seven tables with no complaints being received whatsoever. The Bowl 2000 managment have also heard that a great number of players are unhappy about the pool tours and finals day being held at the City Club and the Seaforth Club as the Bowl 2000, "tables are better quality than most" and, "better than most of the tables in the Elgin & District League area".
The Bowl 2000 also believe that, "the complaints that you have had are all poor sportsmen who have not won their games".
I'd be very interested to hear from the competitors in today's Elgin Open and the Summer Singles League whether or not the tables are now improved.
Brad.

Can you add me please Brad.
Would just like to say that I have felt uneasy about all the public criticism of venues and tables. You only have to look back a year or so to see how one of our local licencees reacted to public criticising of their table to see the offence it causes them......which I can totally understand.
And just to add I have no problem with any venue holding finals day provided they have the ability to provide space for two tables and a decent amount of players and spectators.....only thing I would add is that they should have a team in the EDPL
I also have no problem with the tour being spread around. Again I think any venue that is capable and wants to host an event should be given a chance.
Have to say it makes me laugh, when events were held at a bona fide, dedicated pool hall, people complained about having to travel to it. Now we have them locally and there are complaints about the tables etc etc. Seems to me the organizers of the Region 4 tour can't win.

Hi Raymond,
I agree with your concerns but am in a sticky situation as the management of one particular venue (which I won't name) have tried earlier this year to sabotage our first tour event at the Elgin City Club by making unfounded allegations to the local licencing board. The same people also appear to be spreading a rumour that the only reason we are having Finals Day at the Seaforth Club is because my girlfriend works there. Anyone involved with the EDPL committee knows this isn't the case and I really don't feel I should be having to explain myself against rumours like this.
In short - I'm extremely pissed off and yes Raymond, looks like we can't win although I've had no real complaints from players this season. I think some venues could learn a thing or two from the owners of the Commercial, Keith, who asked for and have taken on board the constructive criticism offered.

Im not going to comment on goings on regarding Tour event 1, I was aware of what was going on but whether you agree with it or not 'business is business' . Allow me to clear up why the Seaforth Club was chosen to host Finals Day. It is a suitable sized venue, it is capable of providing 2 tables and space for numerous players and individuals, it is capable and willing to provide food on the day. In short it ticks all the boxes and the fact the Brads girlfriend works there had absolutely no bearing on the decision. Indeed another venue was initially considered but it was agreed between Brad, the owner and myself that it simply did not have the space. So if Brad is being subjected to rumours such as this the rest of us may aswell be subjected to them also. By the way I dare anyone to say the Tennants was chosen last year because I play there !! Of course other pubs tick all the boxes , Tennants, Bonnie Earl, Bowl 2000 to name a few would all be ideal but they have all in recent years hosted Finals day and I believe every opportunity has to be given to pubs (who pay there fees the same as everyone else) to host the event. For what its worth the similar totally unfounded allegations were aimed at a previous secretary who held Finals Day at the same venue 3 or 4 years in a row for the simple reason that it ticked more boxes than any other venue at the time. Of course other other pubs were unhappy about this. I am sure all suitable venues will be given their turn...... Finals day only happens once a year though !

Well it is always the same when you are running a league there is always a dig here and there but if it was not for these people running these events they would not happen. I think the city club was a great venue and most o tables were good its hard to keep them all good my boss and i did our best in tour event 2 we the tables all being level just a few problems we one table which balls kept coming back out and a few tables need new balls and so we can get that sorted. Had good feed back about the day we the pool run well and was organised well and food all day. So would love to hold another one again at some point. Keep doing the good work running these tours i for one have enjoyed it this season and so has all the people i talk to look forward to next one soon

Just read the nonesense regarding the Seaforth being picked for finals day because Brad's girlfriend works there. I can confirm the reason it was picked was as Raymond has stated. The Seaforth was put forward by me as a possible venue.
I would also like to wish everyone taking part in finals day the best of luck.

Not sure of the exact details but think a top ten finish in the rankings will get you a place in the following years Scottish Singles and also the chance to trial for a place in the Scotland Squad.
