Hi folks,
Committee have come back to me and by a score of 4 to 2 votes, the proposal to use the big table will proceed.
We will only use the big table in the first round and once we are through that we'll revert to the main 5. We'll also allocate a committee member to supervise the matches on that table to minimise any interference.
Apologies to those with reservations about this and i know it is not ideal but we cannot be turning people away from events and we must look to grow the tour at all times.
Cheers,
Adam.

Anyone thinking of running a book for this event? Woody/Brad?

I ran one at the last event Tony but there was very little interest. Think I just about broke even at the end of the day. Ben had a sneaky little e/w bet on his H&I mucker that did the damage lol :-)
So NO from me for running a book this time round as don't think the interest is there mate!!

Big congrats to Adam Wood on winning the region 4 tour event 3 yesterday. He beat Keith's Alan Bonnyman 6 - 2 in the final, well done to Alan too. A great day was had by all 56 participants. A special mention to our new members from Oban, who played well during their matches. Look forward to seeing more of them!
Full report and rankings will appear on the SEPF website shortly.
Cheers,
Adam.
EDIT: SEVERAL PLAYERS DID NOT SHOW UP ON THE DAY AND ARE NOW LIABLE FOR THE ENTRY FEE SHOULD THEY WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY FUTURE SEPF EVENTS.

Aye well done Woody, excellent performances against Alan and Fyffie. Well done to Alan on becoming the first non-EDPL player to reach the final, his semi final against Teddy Smith was a cracker, going to a decider which either player could have won. It was almost 1 o'clock by the time the final black was sunk, thanks to the usual few who stayed behind to support the guys in the final!
Neill Simpson took the Club Event, defeating Oban's Colin Maxwell in the final.
It's really good to see the amount of entries from outside our own league increasing every time.

Thanks guys. The larger field of players certainly made for a great atmosphere in which to play pool. Oban lads were good bunch and full credit to them for making the long journey North. Great to see Teddy playing like he can and very unlucky to miss out in the final frame of his semi final against Alan. People passed on a lot of nice comments to me yesterday and I would like to thank them all. Really spurred me on. ps> Its definately a magic wand Raymond - played a frame with Garey Steele today at the Bowl and he hammered me with it....beating me with my own cue, cheek of it. Knew it couldn't have been me

Woody, I notice from the picture before the final that your cue appears to be slightly shorter than Bondies (Alan) . Is that a deliberate decision of yours ? For various reasons I'm thinking about changing mine.

Yes it is deliberate mate. I'm a short guy as you well know and I have been playing with the same snooker cue for the last 28 years and hold it well up the grip. I have never felt comfortable playing like this but its habit and I have found it hard if not impossible to change. The snooker cue has not worked for me on the pool table so invested in a 56.5" cue with (8mm tip), allows me to hold it further towards the butt end and I get much more power and control from it.

Yep, I think mine must be a snooker cue aswell as holding it right at the butt just doesn't feel right on a pool table any more.

Are you sure you haven't ordered a small cue because you play in the Whiter Woody?! Mine's only 52" and I've never had a problem there...

Im the same my cue is slightly shorter wasnt origianally but after it snapped at the ferrule and got repaired i lost a few inches and it really helped. I can hold it at the butt with perfect distance from hand to hand to tip. Well done Woody a well deserved and overdue win!

Thanks Tony.
I think Stuart Campbell was looking to change his cue as well was talking to him yesterday. He just seems a bit unsure about the smaller tip. I have found this the hardest to get used to as it reacts instantly and you have to be cueing the ball really well when using side on the ball especially. But i have gone from using a 10mm blue dia to an 8mm elk overnight so big difference for me.

I really like the elkmaster tips, I can imagine they're not much good for snooker as they certainly don't last as long when they're hitting hard. I feel I get much more grip with the elk.
Only bad point with the 8mm is accuracy when you're drunk! Ha ha!
